This page serves as an archive for Linux and Android packages. If you are looking to start development for iMX8M EVK refer instead to:
- Yocto support - Android support
Embedded Linux
NXP chose Yocto Project as the sample framework to build Linux custom images. Please refer to Yocto support if you need information on how to set up your iMX8M EVK Yocto environment and how to build and install it.
On the other hand, NXP provides a BSP (i.MX Linux Board Support Packages) with a collection of binary files, source code, and support files used to boot an Embedded Linux image on the i.MX8 EVK. Only download the BSP package if you want to test the NXP prebuilt image and binary demos. For more information about the prebuilt images refer to Loading pre-built images
The latest iMX8 BSP can be downloaded from Linux download page
Following the NXP Linux board support packages available so far:
Package Version | Description |
---|---|
L4.9.88_2.0.0_MX8MQ | i.MX 8MQuad EVK Linux Binary Demo files (Yocto Rocko Binaries), includes sdcard, filesystem tar, m4 binary demos, .dtb files |
Embedded Android
NXP provides an IMX Android release to be able to boot Embedded Android on the IMX8M EVK.
Offers two packages:
- the Android demo that includes prebuilt images with NXP extended features for the IMX8MQ EVK board.
- and the Android source code that provides i.MX Android proprietary source code.
Latest packages can be downloaded from Android Demo and Android Source.
For more details about Android setup refer to Android support
Following are the Android iMX8M EVK software support packages available so far:
Package Version | Description |
---|---|
O8.1.0_1.3.0_Android_Demo_8MQ_GA | Prebuilt images with NXP extended features for the i.MX8MQ EVK |
O8.1.0_1.3.0_Source_Demo_8MQ_GA | i.MX Android proprietary source code for Android O8.1.0_1.3.0_8MQ GA |
