RidgeRun Subscription model

RidgeRun's subscription model offers you subscribing for the RidgeRun professional services for a full time embedded software engineer per month at a flat rate. This means that you can assign any embedded Linux/GStreamer related task to the engineer working on your project without worrying about your end of month invoice. Basically, RidgeRun works as an extension of your engineering team.

Some of the most popular services are:

  • Linux BSP customization and hardware bring-up
  • Linux drivers development
  • GStreamer development
    • Creating GStreamer custom elements
    • Development of custom media applications based on GStreamer
    • GStreamer pipeline optimization
  • Development of Image processing and analysis algorithms

This model includes the support of a RidgeRun team to coordinate the tasks locally. You are free to select your development model. You provide the requirements, you control the task list and you set the priorities; any of which you can change at any time.

Support service description

  • Some of the main features of the subscription model are:
    • Flat monthly rate for up to 8 hours a day work, up to 40 hours per week for one month.
    • At any time during normal business hours, you can directly interact with the engineers working on your project (8 hours/day, 40h/week). RidgeRun typically uses email or slack for engineer to engineer communication. We prefer written communication as there will be a handful of engineers and technical leads on the distribution list normally in order to assist if needed. Widening the communication means you will get an answer more quickly and from someone most familiar with the part of the system in question.
    • Weekly 45 minute calls are suggested to provide you the opportunity to update RidgeRun on changes in requirements/tasks/priorities/schedule. During the call, RidgeRun will give an update on the progress/challenges for the past week and indicate what progress is expected for the coming week.
    • Internally, RidgeRun uses Scrum to develop the projects with daily stand up meetings and a backlog created during the project definition. The customer is involved only once a week on the weekly call. From the customer's point of view is like having 1-week sprints. The customer is free to change this suggested model if needed.
    • If the customer is part of the subscription program and at some point, the assigned engineer becomes momentarily idle waiting for the next tasks, RidgeRun may assign him/her alternative tasks in order to keep him/her busy. However, due to the priority of the subscription, this task will be immediately put on hold when the customer is ready to resume the work on his task list.
    • Please be aware that task transition times and management activities might reduce the time included in the monthly time report.
    • The subscription model is monthly based and it will be automatically renewed if the customer doesn't inform RidgeRun that it wants to stop its subscription. You can cancel your subscription and it won't be renewed.
    • In order to operate efficiently RidgeRun can change the engineer assigned to the task by another engineer more suitable for the work required.
    • Higher rates and extra charges apply for on-site support and customers cover the trip expenses.
    • Vacation time is covered by the subscription payment, this typically includes 12 days per year.
    • Holidays are covered by the subscription payment, this typically includes around 8 days per year.
    • For every 3 subscriptions, an additional charge equivalent to 0.5 subscription will be charged to cover the corresponding team lead assigned by RidgeRun.
